Imagine one of the most diverse communities in America where 60-70% of the population is foreign-born, representing over 145 different countries and 761 different language groups! This is the International Village of Atlanta, GA including the communities of Doraville, Clarkston, and Chamblee. Known as the “Ellis Island of the South,” there are great needs, but there are also great opportunities for churches and individuals to invest in the residents of this unique community.

Servant Life is excited to send short-term teams into these Atlanta communities for a week of ministry to help meet the needs of the community― to show the love of Christ with our actions, and to gain a better understanding of how to reach those from different religious backgrounds.

What will my team be doing?

The International Village is like no other place on the planet! The whole world has come to us and is living in the apartment complexes where your team will serve. In the mornings your team will feel as if they’ve been transported to another country like Japan, China, Vietnam, Algeria and the Middle East, India, and South America! Our missionary partners will lead your team on daily cultural immersion experiences where you will learn about different world religions and how to share your faith in an easy, non-threatening way.

After lunch each day, your team will head to a local apartment complex to lead Bible clubs, tutoring, sports, and more.

Groups can extend their stay in Atlanta at a minimal cost for additional ministry opportunities or free time experiences like Stone Mountain, Atlanta Braves Baseball, Six Flags, White Water, and more.

What does a general weekly schedule look like?

  • Sunday. Travel Day. Arrive and get settled in at a hotel or AirBNB.

  • Monday - Thursday. Cultural Immersion Experiences with missionary partners each morning and apartment ministry activities in the afternoon.

  • Friday. Travel Day; depart for home or for a small cost, stay additional days, and enjoy free time experiences around Atlanta or additional ministry activities.

What does my cost include?

  • Housing. Teams stay at a local hotel or AIRBNB. Servant Life will handle all reservations. Price assumes 4 people per room. Additional costs may apply based on final lodging selection.

  • Meals. For most groups, breakfast will be included as part of your hotel stay. Individuals should budget around $10-$15 per day for lunch while out on their cultural immersion activities. This could include a Mexican restaurant, an Arabic restaurant, or a time at one of the world markets. For dinner, groups can choose to eat out again or cook meals at a local church that opens its doors to a full commercial kitchen.

  • T-Shirt. Every participant gets an awesome mission trip t-shirt.

  • Pre-Trip Training Material. We provide training sessions, trip overview documents, assistance from our team of mission trip experts, and communication with in-country missionaries to make sure your group is fully prepared for your trip.

  • Pre, During, and Post-trip Devotionals. This 4-week printed missions journal will help every team member grow and encounter Christ.

What's not included in the cost?

  • Airfare and transportation are not included in the trip cost but can be taken care of by Servant Life's travel agent if you plan to fly. You may book on your own if you prefer to do so, but we ask you to approve the itinerary first.

  • Ministry Supplies. Each afternoon, with our partner’s assistance, you will lead Bible clubs, sports activities, and more. Your group will be responsible for bringing any supplies like snacks, drinks, games, crafts, etc.

  • Note also that you do need your own transportation while you are in Atlanta, and we can assist you with helping you find the best deals for rental cars but most groups use church vans.
