In Birmingham, your group will learn about, interact with, and experience the history and culture of the city.

Servant Life is excited to bring short-term teams into our own community for a week of ministry to help meet the needs of the city― to show the love of Christ with our actions and to gain a better understanding of how to serve when we go back home. Our ministry partners work to unite diverse individuals, businesses, ministries, and churches to share resources, meeting physical and spiritual needs locally and globally.

What will my team be doing?

Ministry opportunities in Birmingham are multi-faceted and diverse, and your team will have an opportunity to shape your preferences as you interact with different service projects throughout the week. Your team can be part of ministry with local churches, helping invest in kids through after-school projects, Backyard-Bible clubs, worshipping with a church youth group, or other community outreach.

You can also be a part of helping meet basic needs by rescuing food and supplies from local businesses and distributing them in food banks, helping others get access to the essentials they need.

If you like working with your hands, you can be part of community development projects, helping with landscaping and working in nurseries to brighten up the community.

There are also other opportunities to work directly with people, such as through children's homes, nursing homes, and homeless shelters. A special way our partners work in our community is by blessing our government leaders, teachers, and more with a special meal or treat. You will get to spend time with this leaders, thanking them for the impact they make in our city and praying for their work and family.

Groups can extend their stay in Birmingham at a minimal cost for additional ministry opportunities or free time experiences like Alabama Adventure, Vulcan, Barber Motorsports Park, Birmingham Civil Rights Museum, and more.
