Ecuador is a beautiful and diverse country in the northwestern part of South America along the Andes Mountains. Servant Life partners with missionaries leading a training and retreat center for all Ecuadorians.  On the 300-acre property in a country setting just north of Quito in the mountains, our partners are uniquely positioned to reach the roughly 3 million people that live in Quito, 45 minutes away. Their mission is to facilitate a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ through nature and outdoor adventure. They offer a wide range of experiences but always infuse outdoor adventure, rest and spiritual reflection, and purpose/direction into each of their customized experiences. Those experiences range from customized retreats to conferences, youth camps, internships, spiritual retreats, backpacking excursions, short-term mission experiences, and community development.

What will my team be doing?

Teams join our missionaries serving at a retreat center ministering to teenagers and families from all across Ecuador. Getting dirty, working hard, and building friendships with our Ecuadorian maintenance staff often become a highlight for mission teams. From interior and exterior painting to concrete work, sanding wood, digging trenches, roof work, and more… there are opportunities for groups of all skills.

As you contribute to making the retreat center more accessible to others, we also make time for your group to join in on the fun programming that Ecuadorian groups get to be part of.  This includes Zip-lining and other team challenges.

Your team will also get to plug into the local churches around the retreat center. Many of the families our missionaries serve throughout the year attend these churches. Depending on the needs of each church, there may be opportunities to help lead Sunday school classes for kids, participate in service, or simply attend and learn more about how fellow believers worship in Ecuador. Local church involvement is an opportunity for rich cultural experiences that often springboard into meaningful conversations.

Ecuador is a beautiful country, and teams will have opportunities to experience firsthand through different activities such as visiting the historic Quito city center, driving to a nearby waterfall, or going to a village surrounding the Equator. Seeing and engaging the culture gives groups context for the people we get to serve at the retreat center.

As a team, you will spend time together each evening where our missionaries will lead a time of discussion and worship debriefing on the experiences of the day and connect what we’re going through to God’s Word.
