Servant Life partners with a unique ministry in Honduras that helps break cycles of poverty among the most vulnerable of Honduras through programs in Education, Health and Hygiene, and Entrepreneurship. VER means “to see” in Spanish and the heart of what our partner aims to do is allow those trapped in poverty to begin to see a better and brighter future, to see beyond their seemingly hopeless situation, to see themselves as capable and able to contribute to their community, and to see themselves created in the image of God.

What will my team be doing?

Team will be staying at a local Seminary dorm, traveling to rural communities each day to: give hygiene talks, give out hygiene kits, and host evangelistic block party(ies) in the communities. The block parties will include songs, games, Bible lesson, drama, craft, piñata, and snacks. There will be an opportunity for one fun day / tourism before departure.

What does a general weekly schedule look like?

  • Saturday. Travel day. Arrive and get settled in.

  • Sunday. Morning church service including kid’s church lesson and worship in VBS style. Prep for the upcoming week, including inventorying and packing up donations. Dinner out at a local restaurant.

  • Monday - Thursday. Ministry: VBS, home visits, evangelism, hand washing and teeth brushing hygiene workshops, vitamin and hygiene donation distribution.

  • Thursday. Block party (end of the week "send off"), wrap up ministry activities.

  • Friday. Tourism Day (we can give options or choose a tourism experience and send those details)

  • Saturday. Travel Day. Depart for home.

What does my cost include?

  • In-country transportation. From the moment you land at the airport until the moment you leave, we will take you everywhere during the week. Once you get to the campground, everything will be walkable at that point. If your team wants to leave the camp for an excursion such as zip-lining, hot springs, historic colonial town tourism, etc. we will take care of you (although those experiences do cost extra).

  • Housing. Your team will sleep in bunk bed style accommodations with access to hot showers and bathrooms.

  • Meals. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided (Note: You need to pay for your own meals at the airport, while traveling, etc.)

  • Supplemental Traveler's Insurance. In the event of a medical emergency, you'll be covered with an international policy!

  • T-Shirt. Every participant gets an awesome mission trip t-shirt.

  • Pre-Trip Training Material. We provide training sessions, trip overview documents, assistance from our team of mission trip experts, and communication with in-country missionaries to make sure your group is fully prepared for your trip.

  • Pre, During, and Post-trip Devotionals. This 4-week printed missions journal will help every team member grow and encounter Christ.

Airfare is not included in the trip cost, but will be taken care of by Servant Life's travel agent who gets humanitarian rates and often free baggage. You may book on your own if you prefer to do so, but we ask to approve the itinerary first.
