Participants will grow in their relationship with Christ, gain a better understanding of God’s heart for the poor and oppressed, and return home with ideas about how they can impact their own community. Trips focus on four areas – service, compassion, discipleship, and racial reconciliation.

Servant Life partners with a local ministry in Milwaukee that has endeavored to capture God's heart for Milwaukee by restoring hope, enhancing the quality of life, strengthening families, and advancing justice for all generations. Through dedicated programming, compassionate healthcare services, and a robust network of city and church partnerships, their team is committed to transformation, hope, and justice in their neighborhood, city, and beyond.

 

Our partner is working to break the cycle of generational poverty in Milwaukee through:

  • Healthcare and Social Services - Offering compassionate services to meet the medical, nutritional, social, and spiritual needs of the whole person, including uninsured and medically underserved residents of the central city.

  • Youth and Family Programming - Providing youth ages 6-18 with the emotional, social, and academic support; life skills; resources; and mentoring they need to envision and believe in the future God designed them for.

  • Spiritual Formation and Growth - Providing an opportunity to experience Christ's love firsthand as a catalyst for spiritual awakening, growth, and practical applications of faith for the greater good.

  • Poverty and Justice Training - Hosting Christ-centered, thought-provoking training events, mission trips, and workshops that can supercharge your group's commitment to living a life of purpose, rooted in compassion for others.

What will my team be doing? 

On a short-term mission trip to Milwaukee, you will have the opportunity to serve with one of our many outreach programs, do service projects supporting neighborhoods around Milwaukee, participate in a 40-hour poverty simulation, and spend time with our missionary partners learning about Biblical racial reconciliation so that your team can best help transform the lives of families in Milwaukee, and learn new ways to reach their own communities.
 

What does a general weekly schedule look like?

  • Tuesday. Welcome and Orientation. City Tour & Visit to America’s Black Holocaust Museum. Dinner and time to Debrief City Tour. Teaching time with missionary staff.

  • Wednesday. Breakfast. Racial Reconciliation Workshop. Lunch. City Service Projects. Dinner. Poverty Simulation Starts

  • Thursday. All-Day Poverty Simulation

  • FridayPoverty Simulation Evaluation. Rest and Relaxation. Dinner at a Hispanic Restaurant. Ministry Prep

  • SaturdayBreakfast & Prayer. Ministry Prep. Community Ministry. Team Choice Dinner. Closing Reflection Service and Worship

  • SundayBreakfast. Church Service. Head Home

What does my cost include?

  • Housing. Teams will stay at our missions center (cafeteria, dorm rooms, showers, training/hangout space all within our facility)

  • Meals. Most meals will be provided. You will be responsible for your meal on Saturday night.

  • T-Shirt. Every participant gets an awesome mission trip t-shirt.

  • Pre-Trip Training Material. We provide training sessions, trip overview documents, assistance from our team of mission trip experts, and communication with in-country missionaries to make sure your group is fully prepared for your trip.

  • Pre, During, and Post-trip Devotionals. This 4-week printed missions journal will help every team member grow and encounter Christ.
     

Airfare and transportation are not included in the trip cost, but can be taken care of by Servant Life's travel agent if you plan to fly. You may book on your own if you prefer to do so, but we ask to approve the itinerary first. Note also that you do need your own transportation while you are in Milwaukee, and we can assist with helping you find the best deals for rental cars.
